Kothamalli Thogayal / Coriander Thogayal


Ingredients
  • Kothamalli / Corainder leaves - 1 cup (tightly packed)
  • Oil - 2 teaspoons
  • Red chillies - 4 nos
  • Garlic - 3 cloves
  • Channa dhal - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 
  • Tomato - 1
  • Tamarind - 1 small ball
  • Salt - 3/4 teaspoon
  • Coconut - few pieces 

Method
  • Heat oil in a kadai.Saute garlic and red chillies
  • Add channa dhal and roast till it becomes brown
  • Now add chopped onions and fry them
  • Put chopped tomatoes and saute them
  • Add tamarind and coriander leaves.Saute them once.The leaves will shrink.Add salt at this stage.Mix thoroughly and switch off the stove
  • Allow it to cool and add coconut pieces before grinding
  • Grind it to a smooth paste using little water
Kothamalli thogayal is ready.Serve it with Idly / Dosa /Curd Rice.
It can be mixed with plain rice with little ghee added to it and served along with fried applam
