Dhal Paneer Subji

As the name says this particular gravy / side dish is made out of moong dhal, panner and mixed vegetables.
Totally oil free and I made use of "Diet Paneer".That's the reason I tagged it under "Weight Watchers"

Ingredients and Preparation
Part 1 - Pressure Cooker
  • Moong Dhal - 5 tablespoons
  • Dry roast moong dhal till the raw smell goes and pressure for 3 whistles.Mash the pressure cooked moong dhal

Vegetables
  • Peas - 1/4 cup
  • Potato - 1 (dice into cubes)
  • Beans - 5 nos (cut it lengthwise)
  • Carrot - 1(dice into cubes)
  • Yellow Bell Pepper - 1
  • Red Bell Pepper - 1

  • Take peas in a small bowl.Pour water just to immerse it
  • In another bowl take rest of the mentioned vegetables.Pour water to immerse the contents
  • Pressure cook for 2 whistles ie it should be cooked 3/4th only
Part 2 - Masala Paste
  • Garlic - 5 cloves
  • Green chilly - 1 or 2
  • Ginger - 1 small piece
  • Small onions - 15 nos
  • Tomato -6 nos
  • Jeera / Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon
  • Mint leaves - 1 tablespoon
  • Almonds - 10 nos
  • In a heavy bottomed kadai dry fry garlic, ginger and green chillies first.Do it in a simmer flame
  • Add small onions to it and saute for few minutes.Put a pinch of salt while doing so
  • Now add tomatoes with a pinch of salt and fry till the raw smell goes
  • Cool and grind it with jeera, coriander, mint and almonds
Part 3 - Powders
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chilly powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - 11/2 teaspoons
Part 4 
  • Paneer - 200g
Just leave 1 strip of paneer and dice the remaining portion into medium sized cubes


Part 5 - Garnish / Topping
  • Coriander leaves - few
  • Kasuri Methi - little
  • Grated Paneer (slice the reaming portion in part 4)
  • Lemon Juice - taken from 1/2 lemon
Method
  • Saute the Masala Paste (prepared in part 2) in a kadai for 5 minutes.Do it in a slow flame
  • Now add all the powders and mix well
  • Add the 3/4th cooked vegetables along with water
  • After 2 minutes put the paneer cubes.Close the lid and keep it for 5 minutes in medium flame
  • Once the vegetables are fully done add boiled and mashed moong dhal
  • Crush kasuri methi in between your palms and add it to the subji
  • Put finely chopped coriander leaves.Mix well and switch off the stove
  • Sqeeze lemon now
  • Add grated paneer before serving
It goes well with Phulkas / Jeera Rice
