Badam Kathili using Microwave

This is perhaps very easy because its done on a microwave .No need to look the consistency just "timings and power" are important
No need to peel almonds skin because it adds nutritional value
You can apply the same method for preparing Kaju Kathili
Also look out for usual procedure for making Kaju Kathili


Ingredients and Preparation
  • Almonds / Badam - 1 cup
  • Milk - less than 1/4 cup
Soak badam in water for atleast 2 hours
It will be swollen due to absorption of water
Grind it to a smooth paste using milk.No need to peel the skin of almonds
Now measure this "almond / badam paste" and take equal quantity of sugar

  • Almond / Badam Paste - 1 measure / cup
  • Sugar - 1 measure / cup
  • Saffron strands - little soaked in warm milk
  • Ghee - 2 teaspoons
Method
Step 1 - One String Sugar Syrup
  • Take sugar in a deep microwave bowl.Pour water to immerse it
  • Microwave it on high power for 4 minutes.Pause it after 2 minutes and stir it.Microwave again
  • Carefully take it out and check for 1 string sugar consistency
  • If not formed microwave for another 30 seconds and check it again
Step 2 - Badam Kathili
  • Carefully add the badam paste and saffron strands along with milk.Mix well with a wooden spatula
  • Microwave it high power for 10 minutes
  • Pause it after every 2 minutes and stir the contents once
  • After the 10-th minute switch off the microwave and do not open the shutter for 5 minutes
  • Carefully take it out after 5 minutes.Wear a hand glove while doing so
  • The entire mixture will look like a ball.Allow it to cool

  • Now knead it like a roti dough using 2 teaspoons of ghee.It should be a smooth dough
  • Flatten it using a rolling pin and cut into small diamonds
  • Badam Kathili is ready
