Butter Murukku / Butter Chakili

This is a soft and crispy murruku for Diwali.Serves as time pass munch too


Ingredients
  • Rice Flour - 1 cup
  • Besan Flour - 1/2 cup
  • Fried Gram Dha / Pottukadalail - 1/2 cup
  • Butter - 3 tablespoons
  • Jeera - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - for mixing
  • Oil - to deep fry
Method
Step 1 - Fried Gram Powder
  • Take fried gram / pottukadali in a dry mixer and powder it

Step 2 - Murukku Maavu / Dough
  • Now take all the given ingredients in a bowl including fried gram powder.Do not add water now
  • Mix well with hands initially then sprinkle water little by little to form a loose dough
  • Grease the inner portion of murruku press.See the pic below
  • Fix / insert single star achu / mold to the inner portion
  • Fill it with dough / murukku maavu
Step 3 - Butter Murukku
  • Meanwhile heat oil in a deep kadai
  • When oil is heated slowly squeeze the dough into it in a circular motion
  • Once the bubble subsides flip to over to the other side
  • Wait till the bubbles and the sshhhh sound subsides
  • Take it out carefully and drain the excess oil
Butter Murukku is ready.Serve along with tea
