Kaara Boondhi /Kara Boondhi

"Kaara Boondhi /Kara Boondhi" is one of the popular snack / savory during Diwali time.Here is the detailed recipe for the same


Ingredients
Part 1 - Boondhi
  • Besan flour - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/4 cup
  • Chilly Powder - 1 - 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil - for deep frying
A big perforated ladle / Jarini to drop the batter

Garnish
  • Fried cashews, curry leaves and peanuts - as required
Method
  • Heat oil in a frying kadai
  • Meanwhile take a mixing bowl and put  besan, rice flour, salt, haldi and chilly powder.Add water gradually to form a thick bhajji like batter
  • Hold the perforated ladle above the heated oil
  • Take a ladle full of batter and pour it over the perforated ladle and spread it
  • You will notice tiny balls falling into the oil
  • Fry well till the oil sound subsides.Take it out carefully and drain the excess oil over a colander
  • Wash and wipe the jarani after each and every batch
  • Repeat the process till the batter is exhausted
  • Transfer the boondhis into a broad basin and garnish with fried cashews, peanuts and curry leaves
  • Shake it well so that it gets mixed thoroughly

Kaara Boondhi is ready to munch
